L-2 Visa Service (Spouses and Children of L-1 Visa Holders)

The L-2 visa is designed for the following categories of individuals:

  • Spouses and children of L-1 visa holders who wish to visit or accompany the primary L-1 visa holder in the U.S.

The L-2 visa is valid only for the duration of the primary L-1 visa holder’s status. During this period, L-2 visa holders can travel in and out of the United States for short visits. This visa also permits enrollment in educational programs within the U.S.

Spouses of L-1 visa holders can apply for an EAD (Employment Authorization Document) if they wish to work. Once approved, L-2 spouses with EADs can work freely in the U.S. However, dependent children on an L-2 visa are not eligible to work, though they may attend school.

Application Requirements

To apply for an L-2 visa, the following documents must be submitted:

  • Two recent passport-size photographs of the applicant
  • Valid passport
  • Completed and duly signed visa application form
  • Original marriage certificate (for spouse applicants)
  • Copy of the L-1 visa approval notice of the primary L-1 visa holder
  • Demand drafts for the visa application and issuance fees

L-2 Visa Renewal

When the L-1 visa is renewed, the L-2 status must also be renewed accordingly. This does not require a new visa stamp in the passport but does require an update to the L-2 status within the U.S.

For visa stamping or renewal outside the U.S., the applicant must visit a U.S. embassy or consulate abroad.

At Atlanta Immigration Services, we assist dependent spouses and children with the L-2 visa application, documentation, and renewals, ensuring compliance with all USCIS guidelines and providing support throughout your journey.
